Nonna’s at Nuvali

It’s Valentines in a couple of days. Since it will be on a weekday and looks like my work calendar is busy at the moment, my husband decided to have a spontaneous trip to Tagaytay yesterday.

                                          Place is cute too. Perfect for Brunch-y mood.

He was craving for Aglio Olio and Mushroom Chicharon, which is why Nonna’s was an easy bet. We had brunch at Nuvali and dropped by a recent favorite – Nonna’s Pasta and Pizzeria.

Nonna’s is a sister of the famous Mama Lou’s. And just like it’s origin, Nonna’s also established it’s first branch in the south. Southies yeah! 😜In fact, we were surprised that the supervisor in Mama Lou’s Evia was transferred here! I think he is already friends with my husband, haha. Mind you, I no longer live in the south but frequent trips there during weekends always include these restaurants hehe. He knew we are going to order Mushroom Chicharon, which was the reason we were curious about Nonna’s the first time hehe.
My friends introduced this restaurant last year as we became Mama Lou’s constants. So they suggested for us to try Nonna’s.

Anyways, here is what we tried at Nonna’s so far.. I have included late post-photos from our dining just a few weeks ago.

All Meat and Fresh Salmon Carpaccio

Pepperoni and Mushroom Chicharon

Food is yummy! A definite favorite among our circle of friends hehe.. and Nuvali staple, lol.  Similar to Mama Lou’s,  they have healthier options with delicious flavors. Like their Aglio Olio! (It was too good.. gone in a jiff.. so it’s not in the photo hehe). We love the service too – obviously cause we are almost friends with the staff hehe. They are also open to feedback. My husband is frank with feedback about food and is always ready to tell the staff while the staff of Nonna’s is always open and responsive.

    Aaaahh, pizza! Their pizza looks so delicious. Was it? 🙂 Maybe if we get the chance to go Tagaytay I will suggest this place to our fambam. 🙂 P.S. My nieces call me Nona, that is why this post got me all interested.Haha! Thank you for sharing. <3

    I’ve always wanted to drop by Nuvali every time we drive to Tagaytay. Will take note of is! Where’s the Aglio Olio though? Hehe XD

    I’ve heard of Nonna’s but haven’t actually tried it. The carpaccio looks delicious but you got me at mushroom chicharon hahaha I wonder. How does it taste? How different is it from pork chicharon?

    That food looks fantastic. What is chicharon, though? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it. I would like to try the carpaccio and those delicious looking desserts!

      Hi Stella! Chicharon is usually a deep fried food usually out of pork. But, what we had here at Nonna’s is actually made from mushrooms but gets the kind of crispiness of the usual “chicharon” 🙂

    Ohhhh. Actually I haven’t tried mama lou’s let alone this resto. Though I have been dying to try mama lou’s for ages! We would always pass by their up town center branch. And btw, im a north person so it’s impossible for me to have weekends in south! Haha. You know, traffic and such. Hopefully they open a branch here in north too so i can add it to my must try restos. 😉

      Hi! Mama Lous has a branch at UP Town Center. They are going to open a branch at the new 30th mall I think. 🙂

    Oh my gosh. Salmon Carpaccio! Mushroom Chicharon! Salmon and mushroom are two things that I wouldn’t mind eating everyday. I wish there was a branch of Nonna’s here in Metro Manila! I think I would go there everyday. Looks really, really good!

    That spread of food looks good. I always see this place whenever i walk through the pavements going to robinsons supermarket from ayala mall nuvali. I was just hesitant to try try it out coz i find the place too small and sometimes crowded. I’d like to check it next time i visit nuvali.

    I love Italian food and you can never go wrong with it. The pizza looks delicious, especially the pepperoni one, that is one of my favorites. The chicarron sounds really intriguing, I never had that before and I would like to try it. I am a fan of garlic so I would also like to try aglio oil.

    Been to Nuvali for so many times because we’re just nearby but haven’t tried the restos in the place. We usually dine in Solenad which is just few walks away from nuvali. Nonna’s is interesting, I would love to try the mushroom chicharon

    How can pizza even get old? I consider pizza as a personal favorite and I believe most people do to. That may be the reason that there’s a lot of resto offering this opn their menu regardless if they’re a pizza house, cafe, or a simple resto. Looking at the colors, mama lou’s ambiance looks enticing and very appealing. 🙂 I would love to try those fried mushrooms too, that’s something new for me. 🙂

    At first I thought the Mushroom Chicharon was actually Chicharon Bulaklak! It definitely looks like it! Hahaha! That got me craving! I have never tried mushroom chicaron before even though I already found numerous recipes on Facebook about it. I might try to finally cook some this coming weekend 🙂

    I have never tasted mushroom chicharon. In fact, the first thing I thought of earlier while I was scanning the post and saw the photo you posted was chicharon bulaklak. But those are bad for health. Siguro, the mushroom chicharon is the lesser of all evils. It is still fried, after all.

    Anyway, it was a good spontaneous trip and for some reason, I think that is better than planned, right?

    And no kidding, now I am hungry…

    I love spontaneous everything: trips, gift, you name it. I find it to be a lot more fun than if we plan everything to detail. That food looks amazing, but I have the sense that’s because your pictures make it look even more delicious. 🙂

    I love how inviting the pizza looks like. hhahah I am a bit curious with the dessert, is that a leche flan served with an ice cream? The chicharon mushroom is something new to me. I haven’t heard about it before and aside from being able to see this one for the first, it sure looks like a chicharon na baboy. Does it taste good? Isn’t it oily? Just wondering, though.

    Seriously, I havent eaten dinner yet and this makes me real hungry. My little man just had his dinner and shower. I am now breastfeeding him so he could sleep and for this momi to eat and go back to her writing.
    I am real curious with the mushroom chicaron. Sometimes how I wish I live in the south as I have seen and read so many beautiful places to visit and dine there. Anyway, I could request my mom to drive us there and sample some of Nonas offerings.

    I’m glad I’ve already cooked and also ate already. Otherwise I would have definitely picked pizza to eat today. That pizza looks delicious. The mushroom chicharon would be something for my boyfriend. He really loves any dishes with mushrooms. But I don’t think he has had something like this before. I would definitely try the dessert as wel!

    OOOhhhh mushroom chicharon looks more like chicharon bulaklak.. and I honestly mistook it for one! hehehe.. so compared with the other pizzas out there, how yummy is the pepperoni? is it better than yellow cab’s Thanks! <3

    I’ve never heard of Nonna’s before but it seems to be a good place to really spend some time with family and loved ones. PIZZZAAAA!!! Your food photography is nice! I like how every photo looks really delicious and tasty. And also, nuvali is really easy to go to, so i might just really bring my friends here. Thanks for the tip!

    This looks so delicious. Pizza is the best, Italian’s food is the best though I’m French haha. I’m not much of a mushroom fan, but I love so much carpaccio, beef or salmon. I’d definitely go to that place only by the name. I call my grandma Nonna as she’s Italian, so a place called Nonna would definitely put me in trust haha.

    I’ve been meaning to try Noona’s. Like I’ve been to Nuvali a lot of times but we always end up eating some place else. Next time I’m at Nuvali I’ll definitely try Noona’s.

    Pizza! My favorite! This looks very romantic. Hopefully, I’ll get to visit this part of town and try what looks to be amazing food. The custard and ice cream pairing looks delicious.
