I believe Filipino cuisine should be highlighted and made even more popular now. With all the history and different gastronomical emotions behind each food, the world is lucky to taste it. I was telling a friend that Pinoy desserts are underrated but deserves to be on a centerstage of its own. The variety of kakanins (sweet delicacies), pastries, and breads we have to offer, there is just a lot to share to the world.

This was affirmed when I came across Senyor Juan, the home of the original and espesyal Suman Latik which offers it’s distinct Suman taste and variety of flavors! Yes, aside from the original Suman Latik we love, they put a modern twist on it by offering different flavors such as Chocolate, Langka, Leche Flan and much more!

And boy, it is sooo good! My officemate who does not eat Suman at all, was glad to taste their Langka and Leche flan flavors.
Each store or kiosk of #SenyorJuan offers the variety of Suman and refreshing drinks! The Mangosteen and Dalandan flavors of their juices compliment the food they offer. Super good combo!
In addition, they also offer Kapeng Barako and Chocolate Tablea which can be equally great alternatives for the partner drink of the flavorful suman.

Have you tried #SenyorJuan Suman Latik lately? Loved their Espesyal Langka (the one with Ube toppings) and Espesyal Leche Flan (the one with nuts)!! I love it! Definitely the good old Suman Latik with a tasty twist.

They’re good for pasalubong too. Let your family and friends try it!

Nonna’s at Nuvali

It’s Valentines in a couple of days. Since it will be on a weekday and looks like my work calendar is busy at the moment, my husband decided to have a spontaneous trip to Tagaytay yesterday.

Place is cute too. Perfect for Brunch-y mood

He was craving for Aglio Olio and Mushroom Chicharon, which is why Nonna’s was an easy bet. We had brunch at Nuvali and dropped by a recent favorite – Nonna’s Pasta and Pizzeria.

Nonna’s is a sister of the famous Mama Lou’s. And just like it’s origin, Nonna’s also established it’s first branch in the south. Southies yeah! 😜In fact, we were surprised that the supervisor in Mama Lou’s Evia was transferred here! I think he is already friends with my husband, haha. Mind you, I no longer live in the south but frequent trips there during weekends always include these restaurants hehe. He knew we are going to order Mushroom Chicharon, which was the reason we were curious about Nonna’s the first time hehe.
My friends introduced this restaurant last year as we became Mama Lou’s constants. So they suggested for us to try Nonna’s.

Anyways, here is what we tried at Nonna’s so far.. I have included late post-photos from our dining just a few weeks ago.

All Meat and Fresh Salmon Carpaccio

Pepperoni and Mushroom Chicharon

Food is yummy! A definite favorite among our circle of friends hehe.. and Nuvali staple, lol.  Similar to Mama Lou’s,  they have healthier options with delicious flavors. Like their Aglio Olio! (It was too good.. gone in a jiff.. so it’s not in the photo hehe). We love the service too – obviously cause we are almost friends with the staff hehe. They are also open to feedback. My husband is frank with feedback about food and is always ready to tell the staff while the staff of Nonna’s is always open and responsive.

Le Petit Souffle

Last Sunday, we decided to go back to Le Petit Souffle to try the Kinoko Frites (mushroom made appetizer). While having an earlier food trip in the south (of Manila) on Saturday night. my friend Fiel texted me about how delish the Kinoko Frites is. In an earlier post, you know how addicted my husband is to mushroom fries. And because we just have to go to Century Mall to try some, we decided to drop by the following day to try it.

Le Petit Souffle is one of the instagrammable restaurants in Makati with Chef Miko Aspiras (of Scout’s Honor) as one of the owners. They have a unique type of cuisin which is French-Japanese. We had a few visits previously for their souffle’. This visit was different, it is because of their Kinoko Frites (Php 235) which we never tried before. For those who really know me, I am a hot choco lover. So yes, I also craved for their hot choco – Valrhona hot chocolate (Guanaja).

While waiting for our orders, ofcourse I took some Insta story videos and pics of the place. Tip:  their souffle’ is prepared for 25 minutes so I have ample time to do this and savor the other orders first. Lol.

So, our Kinoko Frites finally arrived. Our verdict? Yes, we agree! It is yummy! Kinoko Frites is made of Enoki and Oyster mushrooms as mentioned my friend and also shared by the food server. It comes with Japanese mayo which made it more flavorful. It is that good that we ordered for another one. Haha. *covers mouth*

After sharing the appetizer with my husband, my Valrhona finally arrived. The hot chocolate is pricier than the average at Php 230 per cup. But, it is really good and chocolate is thick enough to give this full, more than satisfying taste.

And the souffle’! It did not disappoint as usual. In fact, it will make you crave for the next visit haha. We ordered the best seller (and my personal favorite) Valrhona Guanaja (Php 350). Obviously, I like chocolates dark.

Le Petit Souffle is located at Century Mall, Kalayaan Ave, Makati City. Go visit to try the Kinoko Frites, Souffle’s and other food with the cute interiors as the bonus.
